6. Joss Whedon
Whats that I hear you shouting at the screen? Get your facts right man, this isnt a Whedon show! Relax, I know this, but HIMYM has (to borrow a phrase from Ted) an "awesome" connection with Joss Whedon. It is a link so awesome that it blows my geek mind. And its more than just Alyson Hannigan, here is a full list of other Whedon Alumni that have appeared in the show, let me know if I have missed anyone out. Harry Groener, who Buffy fans will remember as The Mayor, is Teds step dad Tom Lenk (Andrew in Buffy) serves coffee to the gang in Season Two Morena Baccarin who portrayed Inara in Firefly (as well as the wicked top lizard in the V re-make) dates Marshall in Season Two episode Swarley. The same episode as Tom Lenk. Alexis Denisof who in real life is Mr Alyson Hannigan, plays the recurring character Sandy Rivers and of course played Watcher/Rogue Demon Hunter Wesley Wyndam-Pryce in Buffy and Angel. Danny Strong (aka Jonathan from Buffy) plays a school bully from Marshalls past. Kal Penn, Robins boyfriend, appeared in Season Four Buffy episode "Beer Bad". Amy Acker, who was Fred in Angel, appeared in Dollhouse and Whedons recent film and Shakespeare adaptation Much Ado About Nothing. In HIMYM Acker helps Ted perform a rain dance in Season One. Further Whedon links are Neil Patrick Harris starring in the brilliant Dr Horribles Sing-along Blog and Coby Smulders as Maria Hill in The Avengers. All we need now to seal the deal is an appearance from James Marsters, Nathan Fillion and of course Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar. That would make me very happy indeed.
