7 TV Comedies Led By Women That Totally Nailed It

7 successful comedies that prove that the Y chromosome has nothing to do with the H (as in humour) gene

"I don't like any women comedians", Jerry Lewis once said. "A woman doing comedy doesn't offend me, but sets me back a bit. I, as a viewer, have trouble with it. I think of her as a producing machine that brings babies in the world". With the majority of the comedy population being male driven, this sometimes feels true. Like a woman can't really hit a punch line as well as she can hit, let's say, another car while double parking. Luckily for us, this couldn't be further from the truth. In the past few years we can see more and more women stepping to the front of the comedy stage and killing it. Just look at this year's Award Shows Hosts. People's Choice Awards - Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs of the sitcom "2 Broke Girls". The Golden Globe Awards €“ the hilarious Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The Critics' Choice Awards - Aisha Tyler of "Who's Line Is It Anyway?" And most importantly, Ellen will host the 2014 Academy awards. Can you say Girl Power? Now, even more than before, women are a big part of behind the scene of comedies, just as much as they are starring in it. Having a female creative influence, makes for a more diverse selection in women's roles in comedies than ever before. They are much more than wives, girlfriends, partners, love interests and so forth. They can range from high powered doctors, to broke waitress or struggled teenagers. But either way, they are the main concern, they are the driving force, and by god, they are hilarious, on and off camera. Here's a tour of 7 successful comedies (by not particular order), led on by seriously smart and funny women, who show us all that the Y chromosome has nothing to do with the H (as in humor) gene. Except maybe, in my case.
