During the 90s, Saved By The Bell was massively popular with kids and teenagers, many of whom idolized the adventures of Zack Morris, Kelly Kapowski, A.C. Slater, Jessie Spano, Lisa Turtle and of course, Screech. The show took place at Bayside High School in California, but what you mightn't know is that several of the show's main characters originated on a completely different television programme.

Zack, Lisa, Screech and Mr. Belding all began life on a Disney Channel sitcom titled Good Morning Miss Bliss, which focused on the life of a junior high school teacher called Miss Carrie Bliss. Good Morning Miss Bliss ran for fourteen episodes before it was retooled as Saved By The Bell.

So what's that got to do with Zack? Well, in Good Morning Miss Bliss, Zack Morris was a completely different character. For a start, his classmates constantly made fun of him, he was completely incompetent when it came to carrying out crazy pranks and schemes and you can forget about him having any luck attracting girls.

Zack Morris in Saved By The Bell, then, is a completely different character, leading some to theorize that the entire show is the nerdy Miss Bliss version of Zack's escapist fantasy. Nearly every negative facet of the character in Miss Bliss is totally reversed.

And what about the theme song? €œIt's all right / 'cause I'm saved by the bell€. Saved by the bell, or...saved by his Saved By The Bell fantasy?
