8 Greatest Series Revivals In TV History

Can you imagine a world where Doctor Who didn't return?

Until a few years ago, the cancellation of a TV show mean't it was never coming back. Questions would remain unanswered, cliffhangers would be unresolved and the fate of your favourite characters would be left hanging in the wind. But then something changed. Shows long thought dead got a second chance and now we live in a world where '90s classics like Twin Peaks and The X-Files are making their long awaited return to TV. It is easy to now take for granted that TV shows can get a second lease of life. Amazon saved Ripper Street after the BBC ended it, J.R. Ewing heralded in the second generation of Dallas, which lasted three years, and Futurama returned after a series of successful TV movies. But there are still so many more shows that never returned from the grave and great cult classics like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Alphas remain unresolved. This article takes a look at 8 of the greatest resurrections in TV history; returning shows that allowed audiences to see characters they never thought they would see again. Old locations will be reused, mysteries will finally be solved and everyone will look a little bit wrinklier.

I wrote two plays for the Greater Manchester Horror Fringe in 2013, the first an adaption of Simon Clark's 'Swallowing A Dirty Seed' and my own original sci-fi horror play 'Centurion', which had an 8/10* review from Starburst magazine! (http://www.starburstmagazine.com/reviews/eventsupcoming-genre-events/6960-event-review-centurion) I also wrote an episode for online comedy series Supermarket Matters in 2012. I aim to achieve my goal for writing for television (and get my novels published) but in the meantime I'll continue to write about those TV shows I love!
