7. A Modern Fantasy
People with superpowers are taking over media more and more lately, but Sense8 is not a superhero show. Without the Wachowskis spin on the story it could have easily turned into another version of NBC's Heroes, but instead it is something more interesting. This is a modern fantasy tale. Beyond the psychic connections there is nothing fantastical about the world it takes place in, it's our world but heightened. It does what any good tale of fantasy does by making the real world seem just a bit more magical. The psychic abilities the cast shares enable them to share their talents and abilities in many entertaining ways.
The most entertaining fantastical moments are when the characters must share their talents and abilities in tough situations. Lito is an actor which comes in handy for deceiving people. Will is a cop and his expertise with guns is an obvious advantage to have. Capheus' skill behind the wheel of a car pulls them out of a pinch more than once. Even Nomi, not the most imposing character, comes in with her computer hacking skills once they realize a larger entity of people are chasing them.
No one is superhuman but Sense8 shows that even common people can do some amazing things.
