8 Things The New Star Trek Series Must Do Right

How to get the show back on Trek.

With the announcement that Star Trek is finally warping back to the small screen, excitement and speculation is already rife. What will the show be about? Will it be set in the original timeline or the rebooted one? Will any familiar characters return? Until more details about the show emerge, anything and everything is up for discussion. The new show has a lot of work to do to bring people on board however. Star Trek has fifty years of history behind it with fans spanning different eras. A younger audience may only know of it from the shiny blockbuster movies while hardcore fans have been following the show for decades. So the producers of the new Trek have to make something that respects and acknowledges the past whilst appealing to new fans too. No small task. With a fanbase as notoriously protective and passionate as the Trekkies there are some key things a new show needs to get right to succeed. They shouldn€™t panic though, because if they stay true to the spirit of Star Trek and the vision set out by creator Gene Roddenberry than they have a good chance. Here are a few ways they can do that very thing. Engage!
