8 TV Characters Who Would Have Been Fired In Real Life

2. Tim Taylor (Home Improvement)

Reason For Termination: Incompetence, Harassment, Safety liability Tool Time was a show ostensibly designed by the Binford power tool company to help market their products and teach viewers at home how to use them. Let that concept sink in for just a moment. Tim "The Tool Man Taylor" was supposed to help sell the products he was using.

That makes it unfathomable to understand how he was allowed to remain employed as a spokesperson when he was constantly on the verge of stapling his nut sack to some poor audience member's hand because he neglected to read the instruction booklet on the tool he was using. (That's not very manly, after all. ARGH ARGH ARGH.) There's only so long that whole "bumbling doofus with power tools" thing can stay charming, until the CEO of Binford decides Tim is a serious liability or the people watching at home get tired of never actually learning how to do any !*$% home improvement and stop tuning in. Honestly, it's surprising Tim Taylor lasted as the host of Tool Time for more than three episodes.

Also...how was he allowed to treat his cohost like a complete sack of turds for all those years? Tim Taylor made so many derogatory comments about Al's mom - the only woman he was close to in his life - that you always had to wonder if the next episode of Home Improvement was going to be one of those "very special episodes" where Tim finds Al hanging from a competently-fashioned noose in his dressing room.
