9 Most Outrageous Friends Fan Theories

4. The NBC Shared Universe

Shared universe theories are everywhere. From Tarantino to Pixar, via one that goes from Blade Runner to Buffy and Aliens to Angel, fans love to imagine their favourite shows and movies all existing as part of the same world, and Friends is no exception.

It's already clear that it exists in the same world as fellow 90s NBC sitcom Mad About You, as Lisa Kudrow appeared in a number of episodes of that show as her twin sister Ursula. Helen Hunt, who played Jamie on the series, appeared in an episode of Friends, mistaking Phoebe for her sister.

Mad About You also exists in the same universe as Seinfeld, as Jaime's husband Paul sublets his flat to Kramer, played by Michael Richards. Paul complains that he never liked his neighbour, a comedian, who just so happens to be Jerry Seinfeld.

This means that Mad About You is in the same universe as both Friends and Seinfeld, so in a roundabout way should surely mean that the latter two are also a part of the same world.
