Even though it aired almost a decade and a half ago, Band Of Brothers is still considered an example of the immense storytelling potential of television, an absolutely breathtaking experience packed into a single season. Airing in 2001 on HBO, Band Of Brothers was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and won a massive number of accolades, including several Emmys and Golden Globes.

The show €“ based on the book Band Of Brothers by Stephen E. Ambrose €“ tells the story of the Easy Company, a group of soldiers who took part in various key events in World War II. Not only did it display some of the most gripping and cinematic action sequences on television, it was also horrific, visually jaw-dropping and at times deeply emotional.

Nowadays we look at television as almost an extension of cinema €“ there is a lot of drama on screen that rivals the kind of storytelling prowess that was previously relegated to film. But this wasn't always the case, and during a time when television was very different, Band Of Brothers broke the mould entirely.
