Agents Of SHIELD: 8 Characters Who Need To Return In Season 6

What do an Asgardian, an Inhuman, and a Spirit of Vengeance have in common?

Fans of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. can finally breathe a sigh of relief following the fifth season finale, as it won't be the end for various characters we've come to know and love over the years. Though a sixth season is now on the horizon for the summer of 2019, it wasn't a sure thing when season five kicked off. This resulted in the show's creators shaping these episodes to serve as a true end, should the show not be renewed. In the process we've got a few loose ends tied up by bringing back a number of long missing characters like Deathlok, Ian Quinn, Lance Hunter, and Graviton.

That said, not every living character still out there from the show's run came back, and if season six ends up being the last hurrah, it would be the perfect opportunity to give a few absent faces the chance for their own encore.

From a villain who deserves to get what's coming to him to an Inhuman whose fate has been left hanging for far too long, these characters - all of whom have been missing since the fourth season or earlier - deserve to reemerge from the shadows.

Last Seen: Season 1

While Nick Fury turned up in Age of Ultron and the post-credits scene of Infinity War, Coulson and the team haven't seen him since his appearance in the first season finale. In all these years, the team's lives and the structure of S.H.I.E.L.D. have gone through major changes, and with season six set in a post-Avengers 4 world, Nick should finally have the chance to check in with Coulson - or the team, at least - on screen again.

We'll be seeing the two together in the '90s-set Captain Marvel next March, and having him resurface in another season - particularly if it ends up being the last one - would be a nice way to bring things full circle, both in terms of seeing how their relationship has evolved from working together in the '90s, to what it has become in the present day.

Essentially, it book-ends the series as Fury was ultimately responsible for kicking off by bringing Coulson back to life.
