Batwoman Season 1 Premiere: 7 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Pilot'

Downs...

3. Dodgy CGI

While most of the pilot episode utilises special effects rather well, there are a few occasionally spotty moments that just, well, take you out of those very moments - such as Batwoman's triumphant pose over Gotham (which was filmed from an angle that just didn't match the angle of the CGI background) or that time Kate stood in front of a heavy CGI cityscape.

Look, we all know that network TV shows just don't have the budget that blockbuster films do, so to expect state-of-the-art CGI from them would be ridiculous. That said, previous Arrowverse shows have all started off with pretty effective film-like pilot episodes.

Remember the tornado in The Flash's first episode? What about the way Supergirl saved that plane? The quality of special effects in the series premieres were on a different level than even the best of what these shows have to offer nowadays - and that is why fans expected the same consistently high quality from Batwoman.
