Parental paranoia hits critical mass in episode two, Arkangel, which sees Rosemarie DeWitt's character turn to technology to monitor her daughter after almost losing her.

Said tech comes in the form of an implanted chip that allows parents to keep tabs on their kids and blurs out imagery that minors may find distressing. The Jodie Foster-directed Arkangel includes more subtle call-backs earlier on. In Sara's bedroom, there's a poster featuring the rapper Tusk, who appeared in season three's Hated In the Nation, as well as the VR video game from Playtest.
