Breaking Bad: 10 Fitting Ways Walter White Could Die

Huge spoilers plague this article at every turn... continue only if you have reached Hank sitting on a toilet (mid-season 5). Let's get one thing straight off the bat: Walter White is going to die. The very premise of the show demands it as the man is quite literally Breaking Bad. It's been said by Bryan Cranston and Vince Gilligan (the show's creator) that Walter White's journey is one of complete self-destruction, not hope and triumph. Think Tony Montana - the world that Walter now so desperately wants to be on top of, is one that will eventually implode from underneath his feet. He may be the danger but the higher he climbs, the bigger the fall. Good TV characters always leave an audience conflicted... Tony Soprano, Jimmy McNulty and - more recently - Francis Underwood in House of Cards, are just a couple of classy examples. It's a theme that makes fantastic television. I don't want him to die, but the fate of our man Heisenberg is a bleak one and he deserves it. Read on for 10 perfect endings for the best character on TV...

10. Death By Martyrdom

breakingbad_s4 I think this is the one. Out of all of the choices on this list, despite this being the one of the least exciting, it certainly seems to one of the most plausible in terms of formula. The only shred of evidence that almost categorically confirms this for me is the beginning of Season 5, where we see Walt a year from the dizzy triumphs of Season 4, looking rough and most importantly alone in a Dennys. For some reason he needs a giant Machine gun, too, something which will be cleared up come July time. I get the impression this means one thing - someone close is in danger because of him and they need a saviour. Jesse? Hank? Skylar? Walt Jr.? Holly? It could be any of those people, or they could already be dead anyway, and he could be totally alone. All wild speculation, but making the anti-hero the hero again would be a perfect way to finish of Walt's story. And indeed Walter himself. Then again, when has Breaking Bad ever followed a formula? Unless it's a meth Formula. See what I did there?
