One of the reason's for Brooklyn Nine-Nine's popularity is the wonderful array of characters created by the actors and by the writers Dan Goor and Michael Schur. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) is the main protagonist, with most of the episodes and storylines following his life and career. And while he does exceptional work, it is nothing without the ability to bounce it off the supporting cast, including the brilliant Hitchcock and Scully.
Detectives Hitchcock and Scully are the two best friends who are taking their descent into the older generation with gusto. Every perk and privilege of getting on in years has been taken advantage of by these bumbling besties, whether it's sitting down all day, taking regular breaks for food, forgetting things, being overly open about medical issues, or just generally not giving a crap about what comes out of their mouths. If it can be considered a senior moment these guys are all about it.
