Daredevil Season 2 Is Officially Filming

No sign of The Punisher yet.

Agents Of SHIELD remains a bit boring, and Agent Carter's period setting is a little hard to buy with its low budget, but Daredevil? Daredevil was great. Marvel's first Netflix series didn't just triumph over their traditional TV shows, it tortured them, tossed them off a roof-top, and forced them to impale their head on a fence spike. Boy, Daredevil sure was dark. People like dark, though. Especially with superheroes. There's nothing cooler than seeing children's characters commit cold-blooded murder. Just ask Mark Millar. Anyway, expect the grimdark quotient to be upped considerably in the second season, which just started filming in East Harlem €“ and which will introduce The Punisher.

Okay, so the set photos taken by Twitter user shellykaynyc don't feature The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal as psychopath vigilante Frank Castle €“ in fact it's just Charlie Cox and Elden Henson as Matt and Foggy standing on the streets of not-Hell's Kitchen €“ but they are pretty pictures. And they confirm that the second season is already filming so soon after the first. Not one to miss out on a cash cow, Marvel have rushed the second season of Daredevil into production even though the original plan was for four different Netflix series (that, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist) to all build into a crossover show called The Defenders. Yes, like a low-rent version of the Avengers. Maybe they changed their mind? Not that you can blame them, since the combination of topless, injured Charlie Cox and Marvel's most faithful comics adaptation yet (the shaky morality and often-hilarious tough-guy dialogue are total Frank Miller) made for one of their biggest successes yet. Not that Agents Of SHIELD should follow its lead by including more shirtless Coulson scenes. Shudder. Excited for Daredevil's second season? Pumped for Jon Bernthal as Punisher? Want to see if they adapt the story where Matt Murdock fights petrol fumes? Let us know in the comments.
