The Defenders TV Show: 8 Supporting Characters We Want To See

We know which characters are leading the upcoming Defenders TV Shows, but what of the supporting players?

Fans of Marvel comics have a lot to look forward to in the coming years with sequels in store for the Avengers, Spider-Man, and the X-Men. Other well-loved characters, however, have seemingly been left in the dust. Yet despite this sad turn of affairs, this has been partially remedied with Netflix's announcement that they will be producing and streaming four new shows which spotlight Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist. These four shows will follow the path laid out by the Marvel cinematic universe and will culminate in a fifth show - the Defenders. As excited as we are to see these four kick some butt onscreen in a live-action Defenders team we can't help but wonder who else will be joining the line-up. Here are eight characters - including both heroes and villains - we would love to see join the show as either one-time supporting characters or possible members of the eventual team.

8. Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman

There was once a time when Spider-Woman was more than just a female carbon copy of everyone's favorite fast-talking webslinger. In fact, there was once a time when Jessica Drew was featured on just as much merchandise as characters like the Hulk and Captain America. She was on lunchboxes and book bags; little girls used her visage on Halloween. Unfortunately for her, however, her popularity didn't last and she became but another obscure character in the eyes of non-comic readers. Much like she did in the Avengers comics, it's time Jessica Drew made a comeback. The series that gave Jessica Jones her voice €“ Alias €“ was originally intended for Drew. Instead, her character was used as a foundation for a completely new superhero hence the sharing of their given name. What better way to introduce Spider-Woman into the Marvel Cinematic Universe than alongside the character she helped create? The two have even teamed up together in the comics making an adaptation not so far out from the source material. Spider-Woman has proven herself more than just a female equivalent to a more popular male superhero. If the Defenders miniseries is the one to be continued Jessica Drew is one superheroine that deserves to be on the team. Having the same superhero skills and fighting abilities as the highly sought after Peter Parker while simultaneously having connections to many of Marvel's superheroes, Drew would make a perfect addition to the team.
