Did The First Ever Game Of Thrones Poster Give The End Away?

It was all right there from the start...

There's a narrative among Game Of Thrones cynics right now that says that the show's creators pulled the ending out of thin air with absolutely no seeding for any of the major events of the final season. But what if it had all been pre-destined from the very first season and we just didn't notice?

Obviously, that's exactly what happened in real life - the creative team oversaw a grand plan for the show that took into account the possibility that George RR Martin wouldn't finish the books before the show would be made, but what if it was even more overt than that?

Whether it was intentional or not, there was a major hint in the very first poster for Game Of Thrones first season, which mapped out exactly who would win the Great Game.

The poster showed Ned Stark sitting on the Iron Throne, which was strange in itself, given what happened to him at the end of that season, but crucially he wasn't alone. Look a little closer and there's a raven sitting with him. A raven, like the Three-Eyed Raven who would sit on the throne at the end of the show. It was all planned.

The idea of Ned Stark actually winning the Great Game too isn't completely out of the realms of reality. Because the happy endings that each of his surviving children (including Jon) fit exactly what he would have wanted for them and the North. You can read more on that here...
