Doctor Who: 10 Questions Raised By Deep Breath

And with that, Peter Capaldi truly is the Doctor. There€™s still some way to go before he finally steps out of the shadow of his predecessors but, as with those who came before him, it only took one episode for him to absolutely nail it and become the Doctor in the eyes of the audience. As well as establishing the new Doctor and his dynamic with Clara, Deep Breath set up the new story arc of a mysterious Promised Land overseen by a gatekeeper named Missy. And as you€™d expect from an episode that is both a series opener and introduces a new Doctor, it€™s left us scratching our heads about a few things. When compared to the last few series, Deep Breath was a refreshingly straightforward episode (particularly for one written by Steven Moffat) but still raised some questions both from the new story arc and from other moments throughout the episode. And since it€™s still a few days until the next episode and the Twelfth Doctor€™s first encounter with the Daleks, we€™re passing the time by having a think about some of the questions from the first episode. And in keeping with the darker tone that the series is laying down, we€™ll start with a pretty grim one...
