Doctor Who: 50 Unanswered Questions

34. Why Did The 2nd Doctor Help The Parry Expedition Open The Tomb Of The Cybermen?

Doctor Who Cybermen2 The Doctor's behavior in Tomb of the Cybermen is quite puzzling. It is obvious that the archeological expedition to Telos would have been unable to figure out symbolic logic puzzles to penetrate the deeper areas of the tomb without him, so why does he secretly assist them? Left to their own devices they would have probably been forced to give up their quest. Instead, not only does The Doctor assist the expedition, he manipulates them deeper and deeper into the tombs. Whose side is he on anyway? After several members of the expedition are killed and the rest are nearly subjected to Cyber-conversion, The Doctor restores the original locks, electrifies the door and doesn't even have the courtesy to steal a page from The Walking Dead and put up a sign saying "Do not open. Cybermen inside." He doesn't remove the Cyberman threat, he simply bottles it up again for the next unlucky traveler to stumble across and electrocute themselves on the door.

33. What Happened To The Doctor's Family?

2nd Doctor In the pre-Time War era the Doctor makes several statements that gives the impression that his family is either dead or that he is unaware of their fates. In Tomb of The Cybermen he refers to memories of his family being alive when he wants to be and otherwise they, "...sleep in his mind" Of his family, the 7th Doctor says he doesn't know if he has any family. After the Time War, he refers to having been a father, claims to have had a brother once and implies that he's been married several times. Occasionally he avoids answering direct questions about his family. Whatever happened to his family, The Doctor appears to have somehow lost them before the first shot in the Time War was ever fired.
