Doctor Who: 9 Predictions About The Regeneration Conundrum

10. The Solution Won't Involve The "Meta-Crisis Doctor"

Many are speculating that since the Doctor appeared to use up another regeneration in the story "The Stolen Earth," thereby making David Tennant's edition of the character to have actually represented the Doctor's 11th and 12th lives. Many a story has gotten well too much out of Moffat's line, "We'll find out that Matt Smith is actually the 13th Doctor ... So if the Doctor can never change again, what's Peter Capaldi doing in the Christmas Special?" But hold on there; what's happened to all of our short-term memories? Consider that every single news story on Capaldi-is-Doctor-no.-14 is based on a single quote given to Radio Times. Have we forgotten that Moffat has acknowledged he lies to media to smokescreen his secrets for the show? And what better way to disseminate a false rumor than by feeding such a line to Britain's TV Guide? One can hardly believe that with all the storylines potentially involved in "The Time of the Doctor," that he'll spend heavy screen time paying homage to a throwaway bit Russell T. Davies used to create the ultimate cliffhanger.
