Doctor Who: Exploring The Many Doctors That Weren't

The Fatal Death Doctors - Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent, Richard E. Grant, Joanna Lumley (1999)

Pretend Rowan Atki 1208515i Did you know that there are, kind of, sort of, three different versions of the Ninth Doctor? One of them is Eccleston's version. One is the so-called Shalka Doctor, and we'll get to him in a bit. The other is Rowan Atkinson's Doctor who appeared in a one-off charity special written by Steven Moffat and called "The Curse of Fatal Death". Yes, Blackadder himself plays the Ninth Doctor, and does so in exactly the fashion you'd expect. He eventually gets killed off and regenerates into Hugh Grant's Doctor, who dies off and turns into Jim Broadbent's Doctor, who dies off and turns into Richard E. Grant's Doctor who then dies off and turns into Joanna Lumley's Doctor. It's quite a fascinating set of regenerations for such a small story. It's silly to even vaguely pretend this story is canonical, and no one has really tried (though there is mention in, I believe, one of the books about there being three different Ninth Doctors). If you're a fan of the old series who hasn't seen this, I do very much recommend it. It's really very entertaining and Johnathan Pryce makes for an excellent Master.
