Doctor Who Season 8: 10 Things We Already Know

The Doctor's materialising back onto our screens later this year with a new face, and plenty of other new developments...

On December 25, 2013, we bid farewell to Matt Smith, the Eleventh Doctor. After three seasons, three Christmas specials and the 50th anniversary special, Eleven made his final appearance in "The Time of the Doctor." Gaining a new regeneration cycle from the Time Lords, Eleven was still forced to regenerate after reaching old age. Destroying the Dalek fleet on Trenzalore, he delivered a touching eulogy to his eleventh incarnation and hallucinated a final farewell to his former companion Amy Pond. Many fans didn€™t want to see the youthful Doctor leave, but as he stated to Clara, times change and so must he. In a flash, Eleven transformed into Twelve and we got our first look (technically second, if you count his hand, eyes and eyebrows in Day of the Doctor) of the older Doctor. As he states his distaste for the colour of his kidneys, the TARDIS soon starts acting up. Surmising that they€™re crashing, Twelve attempts to calm Clara down, but then realises that he€™s forgotten how to fly the machine. With Clara expressing shock, the special ended. With less than a minute of screen time, the Twelfth Doctor is still a stranger to us, and with filming still going on, we won€™t be fully introduced to him for several more months. However, we live in an age of information, and if there€™s one fandom that gets a lot of attention across many online platforms, it€™s Doctor Who. Even after sorting through the rumours and speculation, there€™s a lot of official information that€™s out there, as well as one or two things the BBC maybe wanted to keep under wraps longer. Since we don€™t have a TARDIS to travel to the future and watch the Twelfth Doctor€™s adventures, let€™s instead sit back and look at the 10 things we already know about the eighth season.
