Doctor Who Series 8: Everything We Know So Far

Every detail to have squealed running from that big blue box!

Please note that this article does not contain information from the leaked scripts of the first five episodes of Series 8 and the rough cut of Deep Breath. In deference to other readers, we ask that you do not discuss this information in the comments section. We€™re now into the final countdown. It€™s been a long eight months since we said goodbye to Matt Smith but the moment is almost here. The Doctor lands on our screens and in Victorian London in just over a fortnight with a new face, a new wardrobe, and a vastly different personality. And, as you€™d expect, anticipation is steadily climbing higher with trailers and teasers being released on a weekly basis and an advanced screening that took place in Cardiff earlier this week. It€™s times like this that a real Tardis would be very useful. Not only is eight months a long time with practically no new Who-related material whatsoever, but it€™s the longest gap between new Doctors since McGann and Eccleston. Although the gap between series is not really any greater than usual, Series 8 is another Doctor Who milestone (which we€™re certainly getting a lot of these days) and the suspense is that bit more palpable. But the good news is that it€™s only two weeks until an uninterrupted twelve week run of new episodes. And to help you all through the last of this dry spell (or possibly make things worse), we€™ve come up with a handy list of everything we know about Series 8 so far. All of the information that we've been able to gather from interviews, trailers, clips and various other sources brought together in one place. Along with a few guesses at what Series 8 might have in store for us...

15. Everything About The First Five Episodes

We managed to get through almost ten years of Doctor without something like this happening again but it looks like you can€™t avoid these things forever. Back in 2005, an employee at a third-party Canadian television company got his hands on a rough cut of Rose. The FX shots were incomplete and it had no music but nevertheless, it was leaked online in all its unfinished glory. Fastforward to nine years later and history has repeated itself. Thanks to some hefty screw-ups at BBC America€™s Miami office, post-production scripts for the first five episodes and a low quality rough cut of the first episode have been floating around the internet for several weeks now. This of course has posed a bit of a dilemma to fans. Not only is the temptation to read and watch the leaked material sky-high, but it being publicly available has turned forums and the internet in general into a vast minefield of potential spoilers. As for us, we€™re leaving it up to you to decide whether or not you want spoilers so massive they could be seen from space. As far as the leaked material goes, we€™re making this a spoiler-free zone.
