Doctor Who: 10 Deleted Scenes You Have To See

2. Grow Your Own TARDIS

No Rose Tyler finally got the happily ever after she deserved at the end of Series 4 when she was given her very own half human/half Time Lord metacrisis clone of the Tenth Doctor. Apart from the kiss to end all kisses - let's face it, it had been four years in the making - which suggested that there were plenty more of 'em to come, just what the future held for the new couple was left largely open to viewer interpretation. And quite right too.

Originally, however, their destiny had actually been written in the stars. Or in the script, to be more precise. As this deleted scene shows, the Tenth Doctor gave them a "chunk of TARDIS", which he'd conveniently had lying around in his pocket, to grow into their very own blue box which they'd be able to step aboard for timey-wimey adventures anew. As the Doctor (the real one - are you keeping up?) rightly pointed out, the parallel universe still needed defending and everybody knows that the TARDIS is where the Doctor and Rose Tyler belong.

The exchange was eventually cut, however, when it was decided that it only added another unnecessary level of confusion on top of what was already an overly long sequence. Fans shouldn't be too disheartened about it, though, because it was enjoyed in all its glory on the Series 4 DVD - and in the player above - and it still happened according to Russell T Davies, so all's well that ends well.

Let's just hope it doesn't take 1,000 years to grow, though, because that would just make the whole gesture pretty pointless indeed.
