The Doctor's final monologue at the end of the 50th anniversary special was the perfect way to wrap up the episode's events. It truly showcased how the Doctor's attitudes towards Gallifrey had changed from the classic era. During the days of the classic series, he resented the occasions he was dragged back to Gallifrey and would leave as soon as he got the chance. 

Now, however, he can't wait to find a way back home.
