Doctor Who: 10 Iconic Sixth Doctor Moments Nobody Will Ever Forget

Celebrating the Technicolor Time Lord!

It's Colin Baker's birthday today! And while it would be rude to ask him his age, it would be appropriate to talk about his most famous role. The man who was several hundred years older than the relatively youthful actor who played him... namely, the Doctor. Thirty years before Peter Capaldi made bad behaviour popular in the TARDIS, Baker became the sixth incarnation at the helm of the BBC's flagship sci-fi show. To say he made an impression is the biggest understatement since Davros said he was nipping out to build a few robots. Following Peter Davison's sweet and heroic performance with a turn of titanically tetchy proportions, this particular Time Lord blazed a trail hotter than a Sontaran suit in Seville. A cat-lover, he frequently had his claws out! Not everyone thought the shift in tone a good idea, but one fact couldn't be denied - the lead actor's quality presence. If you loved him, that was Baker's handiwork. If you hated him, well... that was the idea, also. If he had a sole contribution to the universe-spanning British brand, it would be the way he made this most unorthodox of Doctors live and breathe. Often against the backdrop of a production team who were bickering as much as the garrulous Gallifreyan and his aggravated American assistant. So without further ado, let's raise a glass of appalling orange liquid to commemorate 10 outstanding Sixth Doctor moments! What, you were expecting someone else?
