Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Christopher Eccleston Is The Best Doctor

9. He's Great On First Dates

If you ever get your hands on a multi-dimensional craft that travels through time and space, what is the first thing you're going to try and do? Naturally, try to impress girls, but the Doctor constantly misses out on making that all important cracking first impression. The old series Doctors just continued on their travels and the girls just happened to be there for the ride. And the new series? Well, not much better I'm afraid with Tennant taking two different people to the same boring New Earth crammed with traffic jams and Smith playing such an asexual character that he thinks it's a good idea to take Amy to visit a dying star whale, reject her advances and marry River Song. Eccleston's first date, however, blows the 'picnic under the stars' idea out of the water by giving Rose a planet-side seat to the end of the world. Not even the destruction of Rose's home planet can ruin the mood as the Doctor quickly zaps her phone so she can call home and reaffirm herself that her mum is alright. Better than fireworks any day of the week.
