Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Shona McCullough Should Be A New Companion

4. "That's A Bit Rude, Coming From A Magician..."

Unsurprisingly many eagle-eyed viewers picked up on this line as an apparent reference to the title of the Series 9 premiere episode The Magician's Apprentice. It's also worth pointing out that Shona was taking notes at this point - could all of it be an allusion to the fact that she'll be signing up as a student of the TARDIS in the next series? There's also the fact she refers to Santa as "beardy-weardy" in this scene which basically means that she and the Doctor are somewhat of a match made in heaven. The Doctor told her she didn't look like a scientist (she isn't one, as it turns out, but more on that later) so he's already comfortable enough to talk down to her in the same manner of which he has been known to treat Clara. It's never meant to cause any intentional offence, of course (at least that's what he says, anyway), but it would be interesting to see how their relationship would develop, especially with Shona's aforementioned "no nonsense" attitude which would mean she wouldn't think twice about throwing some home truths in the Doctor's direction from time to time. Or all the time, preferably. With Shona and Clara aboard the TARDIS, it's safe to say he wouldn't stand a chance. Just think of the memes. Speaking of banter...
