9. The Man - Eight (And A Bit) Minute Tale
This is a short but sweet perspective on love. The never-named protagonist has lost the woman he loves and it's never quite clear how it happened. We know that he dreams of her and that his home is full of her memory. In his waking hours and out in public, the poor man can't make sense of anything. Personally, I'd have a job trying to understand anything with poultry perched on my head, but this is his lot in the corporate life. He dresses immaculately in a suit and tie and then wears a hideous chicken hat to some kind of on-the-job training. On the first day of the story, all dialogue seems to be spoken by the adults in a Charlie Brown special. On Day 2, our friendly protagonist is assaulted by unnatural nature sounds. The clerk at his hotel sounds like a flock of birds. He can't take a shower because the water sounds like a foghorn. The only place where anything seems to make any sense is at home, when he has opened the TARDIS-blue front gate and come back to a place that is familiar to him.
