Doctor Who: 10 Theories For John Hurt's Doctor

5. He Is Jesus

Jesus_Christ So this theory is a bit out there, but the series sort of hints at it from time to time. When Clara peeks through the Time War book and casually mentions "So that's who you are", like it is somebody she could possibly know. Again Doctor Hurt claims that "What I did, I did without choice... in the name of peace and sanity," to which Doctor 11 proclaims "but not in the name of the Doctor." Jesus' death on the cross could be wedged into this storyline, with his regenerating and being seen by many something we are all familiar with by watching the Doctor. If you travel on Doctor Who message boards and forums, there is usually at least one thread dedicated to this very topic. The show even teased it a little bit when all of time was mashed together and Matt Smith was all beardy and wearing a Jesus robe. Likelihood? Please no. You know what? It kind of makes sense. The more I think about it, the more I can reconcile that the Doctor and Jesus could be the same person. The companions/disciples, the miracles, dealing with supernatural entities and using non violent ways to solve problems. Also, the regeneration after his death is a big part of it. All I have to say is... please don't do that. Let the show be the show and the Doctor be the Doctor. We can speculate if we want to, but don't make it part of the "canon" of the series. I also don't see how this would really fit into the 50th Anniversary special that neatly.
