Doctor Who: 11 Awesome And Nerdy Fan Creations

Doctor-Who-logo_600x300 Doctor Who has been around for fifty years come November, and there's a reason for that. It has one of the most dedicated and obsessed fan bases in pop culture. And as it becomes even more popular around the world, that fan base is growing. As an American I'm watching it get bigger every series over here in the States. I go to a lot of comic conventions, and even a year ago you might see a Doctor or two, but that was about it. This year at Wondercon in Anaheim, California, the Doctor Who cos-players pretty much outnumbered any other kind. And I saw so many people wearing Doctor Who t-shirts, and never saw the same shirt twice. It just makes the hearts swell. If you look around these here internets, you'll see so much evidence of that fan dedication. From 4th Doctor scarves to life size TARDISes, fan art to fan films, and even a scale Dalek or two. Even I've dabbled in fan art to a degree.

11. TARDIS Fridge

tardis-fridge640 Ever wish you had a TARDIS in your kitchen? Well, now you can, thanks to artist Joy Alyssa Day. This very detailed TARDIS replica even has show specific sounds! She can make a custom skin for any refrigerator, but a French Door style works best due to its side by side doors. She has even created a telephone door to cover up an ice maker, if the need arises. The skin is easy to apply, with just a little cutting necessary for the door handles. The top is a separate piece which includes the peaked roof and an honest to God light up beacon! tardis-fridge Joy is an artist who makes glass sculptures of rockets, planets, and other space themed things, and has bachelor's degree in Theatre, Costume Design. As well as working with glass, she is a painter, woodworker, furniture designer, designer, and illustrator, amongst other things. Sadly, this fridge isn't bigger on the inside, but how much food does one really need?
