Doctor Who: 5 Best Dalek Stories

4. Remembrance Of The Daleks (1988)

RemembranceOfTheDaleks

In 1963, Shoreditch becomes as a battleground as two warring Dalek factions fight for control of a Time Lord super-weapon. Officially, Doctor Who€™s twenty-fifth anniversary story was the underwhelming Cybermen adventure Silver Nemesis. But many fans have taken this to their hearts as the true celebration of Doctor Who€™s twenty-fifth year. Taking place shortly after the series€™ very first episode, it€™s littered with continuity references including part of a BBC continuity announcement for the first episode being included in the background. Aside from that, it€™s got pitched battles between Daleks, some great manipulation by the Doctor, a pretty impressive advancement in visual effects, and it€™s the first time that we see a Dalek climb stairs in a great cliffhanger to the first episode. Elsewhere, it€™s got some terrific moments for the Doctor€™s companion Ace as we see her destroying a Dalek with an anti-tank rocket and attacking another one with a baseball bat. And to finish off the roster of badass moments, the Doctor not only blows up a Renegade Dalek, but also manages to talk the Supreme Dalek into committing suicide. It€™s a suitably epic tale that commemorated Doctor Who€™s twenty-fifth anniversary incredibly well. At least in spirit. Best Quote "We shall become all-" "Powerful! Crush the lesser races! Conquer the universe! Unimaginable power! Unlimited rice pudding! Etcetera Etcetera!" €“ Davros and The Seventh Doctor Useless Trivia This story went over budget by £13,000 resulting in its director Andrew Morgan being barred from directing Doctor Who ever again.
