Doctor Who: 5 Things We Don't Want To See In The 50th Anniversary Special

4. Too Little Referencing Of The Classic Series

Tennant Smith This one is already provoking discussion and worry amongst some fans because, unless the production team are keeping something exceptionally well hidden, we won't be getting any individual characters from the Classic Series in the Anniversary Special despite many of the older Doctors saying that they'd be willing to return. This could be a sign that the Anniversary Special will be focussed mainly on Doctor Who's more recent years rather than the programme as a whole, which would be doing the first twenty-six years of its history a real disservice. Doctor Who wouldn't be where it is today without the first twenty-six seasons, and, as somebody who grew up on the classic series, Moffat should recognise that and pay it a fitting tribute. Whether or not he will remains to be seen but the inclusion of 1970s villains the Zygons (even if it's just a brief cameo) is a good sign. Let's hope that they and the Daleks are not the only Classic Series elements to be included.
