Doctor Who: 6 Great Fifth Doctor Stories

5. Arc of Infinity (Story 123, 1983)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO_Ovm7LXJw Yet another tale replete with Time Lord lore. Yeah, I€™m something of a sucker for this one. It€™s also one of the few old series stories filmed abroad; Amsterdam in this case. It also features the return of a companion in the form of Tegan (Janet Fielding) who had left the Doctor at the end of the previous season. As further icing on the cake, we get numerous notable guest stars, including Michael Gough and, in a role that would only become significant later, Colin Baker. As for the story itself, it features Omega, previously seen in the Third Doctor story €œThe Three Doctors€. Omega was one of the founding members of Time Lord society, along with Rassilon, and possibly someone known as the Other, who may or may not be the Doctor himself. Sort of. It€™s complicated. Anyhow, this is a greatly entertaining story, with some wonderful location shooting and some great acting on the part of Davison, who plays Omega in several scenes and makes him a character worthy of our pity.
