Doctor Who: Clara Oswald's 12 Greatest Moments

Celebrating the life of one of Doctor Who's most important companions...

Have you seen Fear The Raven yet? If not go away and watch that brilliant episode and then come back... ...Okay, you've watched it? Good. Fear The Raven marked Clara Oswald's final appearance on Doctor Who, as she took on Rigsy's tattoo to save him and inadvertently caused her own death. It was a tragic end that saw her attempts to play the Doctor by being clever and reckless become her undoing. It was a surprisingly low-key ending for such an important companion, but it was beautifully done and Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman's performances helped deliver a heartbreaking ending. Some fans will be upset, others will undoubtedly rejoice at her departure but no one will deny that her death, signposted since the start of Series Nine, was shocking because it came two episodes before the series finale. Clara's loss will be keenly felt by the Doctor and the audience in the final two episodes, so it is only fitting to look back now at the many great moments that made Clara Oswald such a memorable companion.

After the Doctor goes off to face the Daleks, Clara begs the Time Lords to save him. The Doctor won't bring them back, fearing another Time War, but Clara's heartfelt speech - and a passionate performance from Jenna Coleman - convinces them to give him another set of regenerations. And so thanks to Clara's plea, the Doctor - and the show - is renewed and audiences are introduced to the magnificent Peter Capaldi...
