Doctor Who Series 11: 4 Ups & 3 Downs From 'It Takes You Away'

2. Ribbons Was Purely A Vessel For Exposition

A big criticism of Doctor Who this series is just how much time and effort is spent on exposition. When The Doctor, Yaz, and Graham step through the mirror, they find themselves in what appears to be a cave system, inhabited only by flesh-eating moths, and an odd character by the name of Ribbons. Giving information only through trade, he was an interesting character.

However, after a vain attempt at grabbing The Doctor's sonic screwdriver, Ribbons succumbs to a swarm of moths, but manages to name drop 'the antizone' before he perishes. So in the grand scheme of things, what was his purpose in this episode aside from giving The Doctor the information about the 'antizone?' Ribbons was here purely to play into this exposition opera Doctor Who now conducts.

Born in Theatre, sits at a Computer. After over a decade of tinkering with Video Editing software, Rich gets to spend his precious time editing whatever's thrown at him. Also the go-to for Doctor Who, and could tell you why Sans Serif fonts are better than most. Still occasionally tap dances under the desk.
