So we are on the cusp of Doctor Who Series 7 and what does Matt Smith go and do… he starts talking about Series 8!
The current Doctor is about it take on cyborg cowboys, dinosaurs and more Daleks than you can shake a Sonic Screwdriver at, but despite all that being as yet unseen by fans, Smith seems keen to get the ball rolling on the series that will mark the 50th anniversary of the sci-fi series.
Talking to The Sun, Smith said that head writer and current show mastermind Steven Moffat has already been talking ideas for the next series.
“His first episode sounds great,” the actor said. It hasn’t been written yet but the idea is as brilliant and as mental as you’d expect from Steven. So there’s a lot to look forward to. When Steven was going to pitch the next season to me not long ago, he said, ‘Are you ready to cry?’”
He also promised that fans will not be disappointed by the 50th anniversary celebrations when they finally arrive.
“We want to do 50 years – and everyone that’s been associated with the show – justice,” he added. “We want to go, ‘Look, world, here is Doctor Who. It’s 50 years old, a science fiction show, still going and going from strength to strength’.
“Steven will do something brilliant. He’ll do something grand, or maybe something very simple, but he’ll come to it as a fan.
“He’ll go, ‘What would I want to see?’”
The 7th series of Doctor Who is expected to debut on the 25th August.

DW has gone downhill since Moffat tried to do more than submit good stories to the then excellent showrunner RTD. Moffat won’t do the anniversary justice, he will over-egg it as he has the last two series’ and come up with ridiculous finales. “oh the fans won’t guess this ending”. You’re right, we won’t. The last two finales have had random “twists” thrown in that have absolutely no root in the previous episodes. What a load of codswallop. Bring back RTD. Now!
There isn’t a story by Muppet that was any worse than End of Time, Love & Monsters, Turn Left or any other tripe that ReTarD churned out. Muppet emulates ReTarD’s style implicitly. One can’t even tell that it’s a different hack writing it. Muppet does the same with the finales as ReTarD did.
The problem Muppet has is that he hasn’t got any balls. ReTarD changed the show & main character to an unrecognisable extent when he took over. Why didn’t Muppet do the same or change it back to the way it was? Because he hasn’t got a vision, balls or an imagination. He does the same thing every season that ReTarD was doing. Amy is Rose (in love with the Dr & has looser bf), River is Captain Jack (neither can die & so can make return appearances indefinitely), Rory is Mickey & the 11th Dr is the same magic wand wielding, shouty, teenager with ADHD that shouts nonsensical catchphrases as the 10th & 9th were.
If all you ever liked about DW was the ReTarD reign of terror then you’re not a Whovian, you’re a fan of Casanova in Cradiff. So f*ck off with you invalid opinions. What do you know? All you know is to laugh at dumb lines like “lots of planets have a north” & weep when Tennant has another teargasm. What impeccable taste you have. Go back to watching Coronation Street.
why in the hell doctor who wasn’t in the olympics ceremony, i’ll never know
Doctor Who wasn’t overtly in the opening ceremony, but the TARDIS sound was heard and there was a guy dressed like the 11th Doctor without his fez or blazer.
*Insert the complete opposite of what Lady Anne Bouf said*
I agree with you completely, Moffat has given us some amazing story lines. I loved some RTD’s plots, but it’s Moffat’s time now, and in my opinion, he’s doing amazingly well and has brought us some truly fantastic episodes. Doctor Who is meant to be unpredictable and twisty, that’s what keeps a lot of the fans hooked.
Well, in my opinion Steven Moffat wasnt the best writer ever and I agree doctor who sort of went downhill after him, BUT he did hit a home run with “Blink” and creating the weeping angels. Personally, my favorite writer or DW would have to be Russel T. Davies. He wrote the best episodes! But that’s just me.
i cant wait for this doctor to go, everything went to ******** since the 11th doctor came. all the cheesy jokes that were not funny and it was childish ( i hope Russel T Davis comes back to do the show some point) i hope that he goes soon, and hope that the new doctor will be good
