Back in 2000, 20th Century Fox brought the X-Men to the big screen, and it led to a rejuvenation of the superhero genre that has helped lead us to where we are today.

In 2001, looking to build on the success of mutants on the big screen, the TV show Mutant X was launched, and it led to... well, not a lot really, since most people have likely forgotten it ever happened.

Created by Marvel Studios founder Avi Arad, the series centres on a team of New Mutants who possess powers as a result of genetic engineering. The mission of the Mutant X team is to seek out and protect their fellow New Mutants.

The syndicated show ran for three seasons and 66 episodes, before being abruptly cancelled on an unresolved cliffhanger. Although it could have some cult status, the series featured bad acting and even worse effects, and is mostly remarkable for the number of lawsuits it caused between Fox and the production companies involved.
