American Horror Story will be returning to screens for its eighth season later this month, and judging from what we know already, it promises to be the best season yet.

Subtitled Apocalypse, Season 8 will not only be centering around the end of the world, but it's also going to be the highly-anticipated crossover between the Murder House and Coven seasons of the show. As any American Horror Story fan would tell you, these particular outings of the horror anthology series are among AHS' greatest achievements, which can only mean good things for Apocalypse.

Revisiting these critically-acclaimed seasons has many benefits, but the greatest is that some of our favourite characters will be making a long-awaited comeback. Can you imagine having the opportunity to get re-acquainted with the likes of Murder House's Tate Langdon, or Coven's Cordelia Foxx?

With surprising casting announcements, a shocking premise and the return of our favourite characters, American Horror Story: Apocalypse promises to be quite the spectacle. Before the beloved FX series returns, however, let's take a look at everything there is to know about it.

While we know that American Horror Story: Apocalypse will be a crossover between the Coven and Murder House seasons, there's not much known about what how the characters from the two beloved seasons will come together. However, As we can guess from the Apocalypse subtitle, the series will focus on the end of the world.

AHS' executive producer Alexis Martin Woodall revealed a bit about the storyline during the Television Critics Association panel earlier this year.

"I'm going to say that the story begins with the end of the world, and then our world begins... It starts in the real world... It's very tangible, and it's a familiar panic"

We also know that the Antichrist child from Murder House will be making a return, only he'll be much older now, and will be played by The Assassination of Gianni Versace actor Cody Fern. It's likely that this devilish child will be responsible for the chilling events that bring the characters of Murder House and Coven together.
