Friends Reunion: 8 Things We Learned

The One Without Matthew Perry

The Friends? Here? A REUNION?! There was an insane amount of hype when NBC announced that there would be a 'Friends Reunion', a sign of the incredible popularity the show still has over a decade since it ended. A chance to see Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey, and Phoebe all back together was an enticing prospect for most fans. But then, if you actually read what was happening, it became clear that this wasn't the Friends Reunion people hoped for. Instead of the characters, it would be David, Jennifer, Matthew, Courteney, Matt, and Lisa getting together in a room, as part of a special to honour legendary director James Burrows. And then it was revealed Matthew Perry couldn't make it, as he was busy doing a play on London's West End. So, not only was it not a reunion, insofar as the actors weren't playing their characters again, but it wasn't a full reunion, as a core part of the cast wouldn't be there. But still, 5 is better than none. And getting to see these actors, responsible for creating one of the most beloved shows in TV history, come back together is still a cause for celebration, especially for those of us who love to pretend that they're still best friends, hanging out and drinking coffee in Central Perk every day. It may not have been the reunion people hoped for, but it was still fun nonetheless, and the cast shared plenty of secrets and fun facts during their slot on the James Burrows special.
