Fringe Season 5 Debuts New Poster

Whetting our appetites for the upcoming final season of J.J. Abrams acclaimed sci-fi hit show.

Our wonderful friends at Fox have released a brand spanking new poster to whet our appetites for the upcoming final season of J.J. Abrams acclaimed sci-fi hit show Fringe. Many of the show€™s fans will be well aware of the ongoing renewal/cancellation debacle that haunted last season. The long and short of it is, Fox were losing money on Fringe and they wanted Warner Bros., the studio who produce it, to give it to them for less. Finally, they were able to compromise on a reduced 13 episode final season, to the delight and relief of many. It was a saga that in this humble reviewers opinion, ruined the ending to Season 4, given that the decision to renew was made after the end of the season. But you can read all about that here. So what can we learn from the new poster about what€™s in store for us when Fringe makes its swan song this fall? Well its pretty obvious really€ as many of us expected, the fifth and finale season will focus on the Observers. Towards the end of last season, we were given a glimpse into an Observer-centric dystopian future. The Observers we learnt, are the descendants of us. Having destroyed their time, they came back to subjugate ours. Fringe Division was swallowed into the fold, becoming the long arm of our new masters. The tagline reads €œThey are coming,€ also the warning given in last season€™s finale. This suggests to me that the season will focus on the onset of the Observer invasion rather than the full-blown future that we saw. There might also be more danger on the horizon for our leading lady Anna Torv. Back to being the only Olivia of her kind, it was suggested that in the future Olivia was dead. This was resolved at the end of last season, but it wouldn€™t surprise me to see a new angle on this story arc introduced. Let us know how you think the finale season will pan out? Now that we know the end is approaching, let€™s all hope against hope for the true final season that Fringe deserves. Fringe returns for the fifth and final time this September on Fox.
