Game Of Thrones: 10 Leaked Season 6 Set Photos (And What They Mean)

The night is dark and full of spoilers...

Game of Thrones season finales tend to leave viewers with some sense of closure, but this year's frustrated everyone by doing the exact opposite. Practically every single storyline ended on a massive cliffhanger: Did Brienne kill Stannis? Did Sansa and Theon survive the fall? Is Arya permanently blind? Is Jon Snow really dead? What's Jaime going to do about Myrcella's assassination? Who can stand waiting another eight months to find out?

The fact that the show is now caught up with the books also means that everyone is in the dark now, so it's not even like you can check out what happens in the novel to quench your spoiler thirst. If you know where to look, though, some answers about Season 6 are readily available via leaked set photos. Yes, even though the series doesn't return for almost the length of an entire pregnancy, filming is well underway, and that means it's time to scope out the sets and completely overanalyze every single image that's released like true, obsessive nerds.

It's still pretty early into production, but there are already some great, spoilery tidbits that can be concluded based on new locations and actor sightings. Here are 10 pictures from behind the scenes of Game of Thrones Season 6 (and what they probably mean).

10. The Entrance To The Citadel

The Game of Thrones crew will be filming all over Spain for Season 6, and they recently arrived in the city of Girona in the northeastern Catalonia region. Twitter user Antoni Rojas snapped this picture of the team setting up at the beautiful Cathedral of Girona.

What could this be for? Fans have thrown out a number of possibilities, but the most likely is that this will stand in for Oldtown. That's where Sam and Gilly were headed in the Season 5 finale so that Sam could train to become a Maester. Oldtown is the second largest city in the Seven Kingdoms, and it's the home of the Citadel, a massive place of learning where Sam would be spending much of his time.

Taking a look at the book's description of the Citadel, its entrance is a giant gate with two stone sphinxes on both sides, and with a little CGI, this cathedral would serve perfectly. Post-production could also change the Christian statues above the gate to resemble the Seven gods. Just take a look at this piece of fan art depicting the Citadel entrance that looks a whole lot like this location.

The crew just got here a few days ago, but as soon as John Bradley comes to set, this will be officially confirmed. It should be great to see more of Sam in Season 6, although not so great to see him getting the news about Jon. Poor guy.
