Game Of Thrones: 10 Most Brutal Deaths

Game of Thrones was ground-breaking in so many ways. George R. R. Martin’s epic gripped the world in a way no fantasy franchise has done since Lord of the Rings, it inspired a wave of, probably now regretful mothers naming their daughters Khaleesi, and it ultimately let fans down at the final hurdle like few TV shows have ever done.

The HBO show also became famous for the killing of more main characters than any TV show before it. From the shock beheading of Ned Stark in season one through to the murder of Daenerys Targaryen in the final ever episode, Game of Thrones never shied away from killing a character, no matter how big or small.

In the world of Westeros, a land of sword fights, giants, and monsters with no moral compass, many of these deaths have been brutal in so many different ways. Some are horrific thanks to the manor of the death, and some because of the circumstances or the timing of it.

These deaths however, are the absolute worst of the worst. The cold blooded murder of the men, women, and yes, children of Westeros.

10. Ser Meryn Trant

In Westeros, a Knight is supposed to embody bravery, protect the weak, and stand up for the innocent. While there are still some chivalrous Knights in the country, many of those dubbed Ser abuse their power, and take pleasure in standing above those they are sworn to protect.

Ser Meryn Trant is certainly one of the latter. Rising to the ranks of Joffrey’s Kingsguard, the Knight killed Syrio Forel, beat Sansa Stark bloody and naked with absolutely no reservations, and spent his spare time abusing and violating young girls in a Braavosi pleasure house.

This would ultimately be where his journey ended. Not long after Arya perfected the art of changing faces, she disguised herself as one of Trant’s young girls, getting close enough to avenge her dance master’s death.

After stabbing Trant in first his right eye, then his left, Arya felt there still wasn’t enough blood, and went on to stab him in the heart a few times to finish the job. Brutal? Yes. Completely justified? Also yes.
