Game Of Thrones: 7 Best Moments From Breaker Of Chains

7. The Wildling Attack

We met the Thenns and their leader Styr in the premiere episode this season, and here we get to see them in action as they and the rest of the Wildlings attack a small village south of the Wall. They waste absolutely no time killing everyone, except for a boy who is forced to watch as his parents are killed. Even worse is when Styr makes him look as they start cutting pieces off to eat, after which Styr tells him to inform the Night's Watch of what happened. We come to find out that this was an attempt to lure the remaining brothers out of Castle Black so they could pick them off out in the open. Smart plan, but it doesn't work. The most striking thing about this scene, though, is the cold brutality that Ygritte displays as she participates in the slaughter. We're so used to seeing her more playful and energetic, and despite being a wildling, she never came off as being too dangerous. Here she doesn't take a second thought of murdering the boy's father right in front of him. Clearly she has gone full Wildling mode; embracing the cause of her people in a deeper way as a means of pushing back to Jon Snow's rejection. We know that Mance is coordinating an attack with them on Castle Black, so it is looking more apparent that their relationship is doomed beyond repair.
