Game Of Thrones Season 7: 7 Things You Might've Missed In 'The Queen's Justice'

7. Davos Remembers His Son (But What About His Wife?!)

This episode doesn't just give us a reunion between Tyrion and Jon, but also brings the Imp face-to-face with Davos, a man he defeated at the Battle of Blackwater.

That remains one of the series' biggest and best action sequences, and it gets referred to a couple of times here. The first is fairly cordial, but the second time - when Tyrion reminds him just who won that battle - you can clearly see it hit a nerve with Davos.

The reasoning isn't just that it's a reminder of defeat, but the fact that Davos lost his only son, Matthos, at Blackwater, and he specifically died because of the wildfire explosion. In the books, Davos has six other sons, three of whom are killed at Blackwater along with Matthos.

Also in this episode we see him striking up a conversation with Missandei, which could be read as an attempt at flirting (and others have taken as a big hint that Missandei is the mole in Daenerys' camp). Regardless of his intentions, the notion of Davos flirting - and remembering his son - is a reminder that, even though he's mostly a good guy and a great character, he does have a wife (Marya) who hasn't been mentioned since Season 3. Back in Season 2, meanwhile, Melisandre remarked that he'd known other women. He may be a trusty advisor, but he's a terrible husband.
