Game Of Thrones Season 8: 15 Stupid Blunders That Completely Ruined It

Plot armor, rushed storytelling, and throwing character development out the window...oh my.

To say that Game of Thrones' eighth and final season is divisive is a massive understatement.

On the one hand, there are fans who were satisfied with how the story ended, even defending the choices made. Others were not so pleased with how the story was paced, and found it to hurt the final season overall. And then there's those who are so angry that it "ruined" the series, they demand it to be entirely redone with new writers - because that worked so well for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, now didn't it?

The truth is that season 8 of Game of Thrones is a mixed bag. The cast gave it their all - especially Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage - and the cinematography, music (thank you, Ramin Djwadi), and production design were amazing. Miguel Sapochnik's direction in episodes 3 and 5 was also particularly astounding (though David Nutter did a solid job with his three episodes).

Where the season ultimately fails, however, is the writing. It was rushed, under-developed, and many of the choices made either made no sense or completely ruined character arcs. Because of this, it's hard to come out of season 8 feeling any sense of satisfaction, because while the finale itself was actually pretty solid, the steps that got us to it were rough and not very well worth the climb.

15. Bronn Was Pointless

Why was Bronn even in this season?

His story was over many seasons ago, but the show kept bringing him back because he’s a fan-favorite character. He hasn’t really had much of a reason to stick around, and season 8 was his most pointless appearance yet.

In the premiere, he was tasked by Cersei to kill Tyrion and Jaime with the crossbow that Tyrion used to kill his father. Three episodes later, he casually walks into Winterfell ready to kill them…and then he doesn’t.

Even more baffling is that, later in that same episode, Cersei doesn’t have Tyrion killed at the gates of King’s Landing because apparently she just forgot that she wanted her brothers dead. Happens to the best of us.

Bronn’s plotline was ultimately a waste, and if he was left out of the season entirely, it wouldn’t have made a damn bit of difference.
