Game Of Thrones: 10 Criminally Overlooked Performances

When everyone's playing a blinder, some of the minor characters get swept under the rug.

Game of Thrones has a terrific cast. If there is anything fans and detractors can agree about the series, that is it. With probably the largest ensemble on television (also arguably the ensemble with the most uncertain job security on average) the casting directors and creative team fill the series with expertly cast actors, both well known and obscure. However, there is something of an unbalanced scale when it comes to analysis of these performances. Everyone raves about the big stars of Game of Thrones: Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey and Charles Dance, while the less showy parts tend to fade into the background along with the lesser known actors. It wasn't until the third year of this series that Peter Dinklage was finally joined in the Emmy nominations by two of his fellow cast members. Pity there is no Emmy Award for Outstanding Ensemble of a Drama Series, for this show would earn nominations annually. In preparation for the return of Game of Thrones in April, I have assembled a list of performances - both big and small - that do not get enough acclaim or attention amongst fans and audience members. And as always, expect spoilers for past seasons. Think of any other performances in this great cast you don't hear praised enough? Let us known in the comments, or send a raven (though that method isn't known to be as reliable...)!
