Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From “Two Swords”

Aside from big dragons are cool, there's plenty to take away from the season premiere...

The wait is over! After nearly a year, Game of Thrones returned this past Sunday with the first episode of season 4 to the delight of millions of fans. A lot happened when we left these characters at the end of season 3. Robb and Catelyn Stark were killed during the Red Wedding, Sansa Stark was forced to marry Tyrion, Bran and his comrades were traveling north to follow the one-eyed raven, Jon escaped the wildlings, Daenerys had freed many slaves, etc. There were a lot more events that took place, but I€™d have to dedicate a whole article to recap. Maybe even two. Season 4 is adapting the latter half of A Storm of Swords, the third book in A Song of Ice and Fire. While €œTwo Swords€ wasn€™t the most action-packed episode, it served its purpose of reacquainting us with the status quo in Westeros and Essos. Some characters are going back to their old lives, others are discovering that things aren€™t as they once were, and for most of them, they€™re still doing whatever it takes to survive in this bleak and desolate world. As with most episodes of the show, we didn€™t see everyone in €œTwo Swords,€ such as Bran, Stannis, Davos and Theon, but there will be plenty of time to look in on them (although considering what Theon€™s been going through, maybe that€™s not the best idea). For the purposes of this article, this list will not discuss future plot points from the book. Rather, this will just cover the important moments in the episode, what we learned from them, and how they will affect future episodes. The book€™s readers may know what€™s coming up, but it€™s best to keep the TV viewers surprised. After all, surprises are among the best things about Game of Thrones.
