Game Of Thrones: 4 Great Parodies To Watch Before Season 4

The wait for the new series is almost over.

Since its debut in 2011, HBO's Game Of Thrones has rapidly become a global phenomenon, entrancing viewers around the world with its unique and often shocking interweaving storylines, which incorporate war, betrayal, political scheming, sex, conquest and dragons, amongst other things. The widespread popularity of the show and its source material, George R.R. Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire literary series, has resulted in a number of official tie-ins being released over the years, from Lego and action figurines to board games, a trading card game and even a cookbook. Its style, however, is ripe for parody, particularly on the Internet, where many have chosen to satirise its traits in a variety of shapes and forms. As we rapidly approach the premiere date of the series' fourth season, let us look at four such parodies (or sets of parodies), taking a humorous look at things before the next run of ten episodes, which should be riveting given the quality of their source material €“ the second half of A Storm Of Swords.

Dishonourable Mention €“ Honest Trailers

I often include 'honourable mentions' at the beginning of my articles, listing things that deserve recognition but do not quite warrant inclusion in the main body of the piece. Why, therefore, does this one have a dishonourable mention? Because Honest Trailers have yet to cover Game of Thrones, for some inexplicable reason! One of the many YouTube programmes created by the Screenjunkies team, Honest Trailers is exactly what it says on the tin, featuring trailers of films and television shows with scathingly brutal commentaries that pick up on their every quirk and flaw. Nothing is safe from ridicule, and it's fair to assume that Game of Thrones would be ripped to pieces for things such as its frequent use of 'sexposition'. Given that the team often makes new trailers based on requests made in their comments section, it's safe to assume that at some point in the future, an honest Game of Thrones trailer may be created. For now, however, you'll have to make do with one from the Walking Dead and use your imagination. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNxvo8AcpQQ
