Game Of Thrones: 7 Things We Learned From "The Lion And The Rose"

The episode with the single most satisfying character-death in the history of anything, ever...but that was not the only thing that happened this episode.

If you€™re a Game of Thrones fan you know that each year something incredible happens in that season€™s ninth episode. These episodes feature the greatest action of its season, and whatever occurs, these surprising moments always result in people dying. Season 1€™s featured Ned Stark€™s execution, season 2 showed us the battle for King€™s Landing and season 3 gave us the Red Wedding. Well, we witnessed a 'ninth episode moment' in €œThe Lion and the Rose,€ and it€™s only the second episode of season 4! If you managed to stay in the dark about the momentous occasion in this episode, prepare to be spoiled. This is way too big to keep bottled up any longer. King Joffrey Baratheon is dead! That€™s right, the insane boy ruler who many viewers had on their fictional character hit-list no longer walks among the living. During his wedding ceremony (dubbed the Purple Wedding), Joffrey met his end after someone poisoned his goblet of wine. While few in Westeros will mourn the death of this psychotic juvenile, his death will have untold repercussions on the future of Game of Thrones. Of course, while Joffrey€™s death may have been the most memorable moment, it wasn€™t the only thing that happened. Characters not seen since season 3 finally made their return, certain relationships were drastically altered and as usual, conflict was everywhere. So pour yourself a flagon of spiced wine and read on as we discuss the seven things learned in €œThe Lion and the Rose.€ Spoilers are ahead, but only for the show - there€™s no need to worry if you haven€™t read the books.
